Privacy Policy — JSiMS SMS

Effective date: 10 August,2026

This policy describes how JSiMS SMS ("the app") handles information. JSiMS SMS is used by school/college staff to send notification SMS to students' parents/guardians on behalf of the institution using that institution's own Online School Management System (JSiMS).

Who this app is for

JSiMS SMS is intended for use by authorized administrative staff of a school or college that uses the JSiMS system https://jsims.com.pk develpoped by Soft Solutions. It is not intended for use by the general public, students, or parents.

What information the app accesses, and why

InformationWhy the app needs it
SMS messages (send, read, receive) The app's entire purpose is sending bulk notification SMS on the institution's behalf. It is registered as the phone's default SMS app so sent messages are correctly recorded in the phone's own Sent folder — this is the only way Android permits an app to write there.
Phone / SIM state Used only to list the phone's SIM cards so staff can choose which SIM sends go out on, and to track each SIM's daily send count against the mobile provider's limit.
Student/parent phone numbers and message text Fetched from the institution's own JSiMS backend (jsims.com.pk) to know who to message and what to send. This data originates from and is controlled by the institution, not collected by this app independently.
Notifications permission Used only to show the app's own sending-progress and completion notifications on the device.

What the app stores, and where

Data retention

The in-app Sent Folder log is automatically limited to a rolling 24-hour window — older entries are not kept. Similarly Failed SMS log is automatically limited to a rolling 96-hour window. At JSiMS backend, the institution's defines the proposed sending and expiry dates for each message. The backend will not send messages after the expiry date, and will delete them after a certain period of time.

Permissions requested

Your choices

Because this app requires being the phone's default SMS handler to function, uninstalling it or removing it as the default SMS app will stop it from sending or reading messages. Data stored on the device (see "What the app stores") can be cleared via Android's own Settings → Apps → JSiMS SMS → Storage → Clear data, or by uninstalling the app.

Children's privacy

This app is used by school staff, not by children. It is not directed at or knowingly used by children.

Changes to this policy

Any change will be available on School Portal and school admin and owner will be notified in written.
